Something awful happened to me four years ago which still shocks me to this day. I thought I would write about it and if anyone else has been through this please let me know how you dealt with it and if you managed to gain an apology of some kind.
I was looking for a new car as my old one was about to fail its MOT. A good friend who had helped me with car problems in the past had managed to find me a new one. He told me that the log book was missing and he would sort it out for me. As I trusted him I didn't think anything of it. Anyway six weeks later a police car followed me home and told me that I would have to go to the police station with him to answer a few questions. I couldn't believe it, the car had been reported stolen.
As I walked into the station I wasn't too worried as I hadn't done anything wrong and thought after answering a few questions I would be allowed to return home. I was totally wrong and couldn't have been further from what was about to happen. After giving the information of where I had bought the car and who from I was searched and thrown in a police cell for about two hours. Eventually a police officer came and told me that a car had come to take me to the police station in the town where the car had come from which was about twelve miles away. I was devestated as two officers hand cuffed me and put me in the back of the car. On reaching the the station after further questioning I was again placed in a cell. About three hours later I was taken into a room and questioned by two police officers, this was taped. By the time this ended it was 11.30pm. I was told that I was allowed bail and would have to come back in two weeks. As I didn't have any money I asked if they could arrange transport to take me home, the answer was a definite no. Luckily I managed to arrange for a friend to come and pick me up. I couldn't believe that the police could just dump me there and leave me. After two weeks of complete worry and seeking help from citizens advice I went back to the police station to be told that I was free and they knew that I wasn't involved in the robbery all along. I tried to get an apology from them but of course, nothing. I don't know how they can get away this kind of behaviour.
The so called friend who sold me the car had promised to sort everything out and refund my money. He gave me a small part back after constent pestering but apart from that he did absolutely NOTHING!
